The application for funding recently closed for this project at a major French research center for a Smart Light researcher in the area of machine learning control of lasers. Students need to be in the R1 research stage, i.e., in the process of completing doctoral studies related to nonlinear optics.
Machine learning for nonlinear propagation in optical systems is the primary area of study. Students with backgrounds in electrical engineering or engineering science and training in optics, optoelectronics and/or laser physics are sought. MATLAB experience would be very helpful. The project runs for 3 years beginning in October of 2020 and a fixed salary is offered.
